18th Annual Veterans Memorial Car Show: A True and Honorable Event
October 5th, 2008
It’s amazing to see so many proud supporters attend an event like the Annual Veterans Memorial Car Show. Not only did this event bring smiles to everyone’s faces, it brought happiness to the hearts of many Veterans. This year was a remarkable one as the event was hoping to raise $250,000, when in fact, this year they drove right over their goal to a record of bringing in $395,000!
There is a special person from PWCI who made so much of this possible, traveling and working all night and day for multiple weekends in a row to support the event. Fred Wohlsein, PWCI’s Benefits Administrator, had recruited PWCI to help sponsor the event. Fred felt that PWCI could contribute to the cause and was proud to represent the company. “The time involved is well worth it just to see what can be done with these funds to help make the patients’ stay at the hospital more bearable, since no hospital stay could be considered enjoyable, and to make sure that the best possible care is given to those who have served this country. With this show being such a huge success, the committee has a steep mountain to climb for 2009 but hopefully we can meet, if not exceed this year’s total. This brings to mind one of PWCI’s slogans from a few years ago, ‘Raising The Bar.’ The best things are having fun and having the opportunity to thank many of the Veterans for their service, as they comprise a great number of those that we see attending the various shows throughout the year.” PWCI’s President, Sonny Marshall, provided two vehicles in this years show, as he himself is a collector of classics. The show was a hit and PWCI is looking forward to next year!
To find out more about next years show, feel free to contact Fred at our Glendora Office (by the way, you might want to purchase a raffle ticket for next years car...a restored Red ’67 Camaro SS 350 Convertible, Fred actually sold the ticket to this year’s winner!!)
Congratulations to Bart Price from Orange County, the winner of the ‘67 Firebird! And a BIG thank you to Fred for being such a strong supporter of our Vets and our Employees!
