US Air Force - Vandenberg AFB, Gas line Infrastructure

Project Description

This gas line project at Vandenberg Air Force Base showcased PWCI’s ability to complete a large underground project in a high traffic area with minimal disruption. 36 miles of underground gas lines and 5 miles of high pressure welded steel pipe was installed. In addition, 3 PRV and metering stations were built throughout the base. Completion of the project consisted of connecting the existing regulators from over 100 buildings plus 200 continuous feet of underground boring and the environmental abatement of contaminated soil. PWCI’s challenge was the installation of the underground pipe. The boring for the high pressure steel line had to be done 200 feet under a major highway and a railroad line. With over 126 bores and 30 miles of pipe, PWCI managed to efficiently install the pipe throughout VAFB with minimal traffic disruption. PWCI completed this project on schedule and within budget.
